The 2025 ‘It’s your plan’ series continues to offer educational sessions for CSS members of all ages. Hosted by CFP® and PFP® accredited advisors, these webinars provide an in-depth look at the history of CSS, cover important pension information, and provide you with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your pension and retirement needs. CSS offers six valuable types of sessions available throughout the year to help you make the most of your plan (listed below).

1. Retirement Income Options (RIO)

   For those members who have questions about how to start drawing retirement income, what options are available, and how their CSS pension fits into their retirement plans. Our advisors will go over how to decide which retirement income is right for you.

2. Retiree Wellness

   Members who are already drawing a CSS retirement income may appreciate this helpful refresher series. Covering important topics like other sources of retirement income, myths about your options, and even the emotions you may be feeling about no longer working.

3. Welcome to Your Plan

   Our newest member-focused session was a huge hit in 2024! Covering all the basics of the CSS Pension Plan, investing terms and definitions, how to best make your pension work for you, and even behavioural finance topics to help build up your knowledge so you can approach your pension savings with the information you need.

4. CSS Pension Plan Information Sessions

   In 2024, over 20 co-ops and credit unions hosted a CSS Pension Plan Information Session, demonstrating how the CSS Pension Plan is part of their total rewards program and compensation, and reinforcing those co-operative values that are held so dear. Designed for all members, learn more about important life events, investment options, and all the tools and resources available.  The 2025 Schedule for the Employer-Hosted CSS Pension Plan Information Sessions will be rolled out in March 2025 (stay tuned).  In the meantime, Employers are welcome to connect with CSS to talk through any education session needs they may have. 

    

5. Self-directed learning

   The recorded sessions are available online to anyone at any time. There are several recorded sessions available. Examples include: 
   

   
   Federal Sources – provides you with information about your federal retirement income sources, including Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) 

   
   Personal Sources – provides you with basic information about your personal retirement incomes sources, including registered retirement income funds (RRIFs) and tax-free savings accounts (TFSAs).

   
   
   

6. State of the Plan

   Hear from our senior leadership team about what is going on in the Plan, what is happening in the markets, and how CSS is fulfilling our mandate when it comes to member outcomes and disciplined investment management practices.
