2026 Annual Meeting

Written by CSS Pension Plan | April, 27 2026

The Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS) Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Alt Hotel in Saskatoon, SK.

Information session

An information session was held the evening before the CSS Annual Meeting, featuring a fireside chat with Executive Director Martin McInnis and Derek Bissonnette, who CSS was pleased to formally introduce to delegates as the new Director, Investments and Financial Management. The discussion highlighted the Plan’s 2025 investment performance, including a 10.67% return for the Balanced Fund. Derek noted that there were no significant changes to CSS’ investment portfolio in 2025 but that opportunities identified in a recent portfolio study will be pursued in 2026 and the years ahead. He also noted that CSS has initiated a deliberate focus on further enhancing CSS’ mature investment governance practices in 2026 and the years ahead.

Annual Meeting

Jason Sentes, President of the CSS Board of Directors, called the meeting to order. Several reports were provided during the meeting.

Annual Meeting reports

  • Jason Sentes presented the Director's Report to the delegates with a recap of several 2025 highlights.
  • Derek Bissonnette delivered the 2025 Investment Report, providing an overview of the Plan’s asset mix and performance across all asset classes relative to their respective benchmarks.
  • Martin McInnis presented the 2025 Management Report and financial statements and shared an update on Program Slingshot - a major digital transformation initiative that includes redesigning the Plan’s pension administration system and enhancing online portals for members and employers.

Pension plan amendments

The delegates approved two amendments to the CSS Pension Plan Rules and Regulations as follows:

  • The first amendment sets out to update the CSS Bylaws to specifically provide for future scenarios where CSS receives qualified nominations equal to, or less than, the number of vacant delegate seats during an election process.
  • The second amendment set out changes to the per diem allowance paid to CSS delegates and directors for attending meetings of the Society, increasing the allowance to $305/meeting.
