The Co‑operative Superannuation Society (CSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Bissonnette as Director, Investments and Financial Management, effective December 8, 2025. 

Derek brings more than 20 years of experience across investment consulting, asset management, systems, and pension management. His career spans institutional consulting at Aon, asset management with Greystone, entrepreneurship, and pension plan leadership at Plannera - giving him a broad, well‑rounded perspective on strategy, governance, and delivering strong long‑term outcomes for plan members. 

“I was drawn to CSS because of its strong co‑op‑based values and culture, clear mission, and member‑focused approach,” says Derek. "My northern star will always be to contribute in a way that supports both colleagues and members over the long term." 

Derek’s approach to leadership is grounded in purpose, curiosity, and collaboration - values that align closely with CSS’ co‑operative roots. 

He succeeds Brent Godson, who retired in December 2025 after nearly 20 years of dedicated service to CSS. The organization extends its sincere thanks to Brent for his leadership, commitment, and lasting contributions, and wishes him all the very best in his well‑earned retirement.  

Outside of the office, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, often outdoors in the Canadian Rockies hiking, biking, snowboarding, running, or playing sports together. When time allows, he can be found reading, enjoying a large mug of coffee, and listening to music.
